Profile of a Christian Central Academy Graduate
Christian Central Academy is an independent, Christian, college-preparatory school that exists to provide an excellent education within a Christian worldview. The school seeks to cultivate an environment that will challenge students to know Jesus Christ as Lord, to love others as themselves, to grow in wisdom, knowledge, skill, character and leadership, to serve others as Christ served the Church, and to proclaim the Gospel worldwide.
Curriculum & Framework
Christian Central Academy’s basic curriculum fulfills the requirements of the New York State Board of Regents. Within this framework, students demonstrate mastery of core academic subjects in English, mathematics, the sciences, social science, and foreign language. Courses in physical education, health, art, music, journalism, and information technology complete the state requirements. The curriculum is enhanced with electives, including Advanced Placement courses in English, mathematics, history, and science. Additional options include dual-enrollment college courses offered for college credit. Coursework in Bible is also taught at all levels. In addition to the academic study of the Bible, faculty include an active integration of Christian faith and values in all courses of the curriculum. This is in accord with the school’s essential belief that all truth is God’s truth and that faith extends into all aspects of a person’s life.
It is our expectation that upon graduation Christian Central Academy students will be sufficiently knowledgeable in the areas of general learning, will qualify for college admission, will be conversant with the issues in various areas of study, will form the habits of lifelong learners, and will understand how their faith relates to these areas of learning. The Christian Central Academy graduate will know how to apply and articulate a Christian worldview to all disciplines of knowledge.
Post Graduation Support
Upon graduation from Christian Central Academy, students are expected to enroll into college to further their education. This higher education carries with it the practical necessity to earn a living in a continually more competitive society, as well as the responsibility to be a productive citizen of our community and our world. As our world becomes figuratively smaller, every career requires increased knowledge of culture and language, as well as skill in written and oral communication and information technology. For our Christian graduates, these notions of career and citizenship are motivated by a desire to serve God in all that they do. Therefore, we expect the graduates will pursue formal education and seek specific careers as outgrowths of their faith. An important goal of Christian Central Academy is that the graduate will be fluent enough in a second language to be able to give a testimony of faith in Jesus Christ in this language.
When asked by some local leaders to identify the greatest commandment, Jesus responded with two: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind and all your strength,” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” These state the attitudes and qualities Christian Central Academy expects from its graduates. Love for God encompasses all that we are: body, mind, and spirit. God comes first and calls for the very best from our graduates as they live in the context of service to the needs of others, not just to provide for personal comfort.
