Music Department (K-12)
The Music Department at Christian Central Academy offers courses in band, chorus, and orchestra performance for grades 4-12. General music classes are offered K-5 where students are taught fundamentals of music. At the high school level, electives and AP Music Theory are also offered to students to explore different features of musical composition, style, performance, and origin. The upper school electives are designed to encourage the broadening of students’ understanding of foundational musical components and how they interact across a broad spectrum of other subjects: interacting with math, science, language, and visual art. All of the classes emphasize recognition of basic interactive elements that exist between musical arts and other subject areas. Independent Learning classes (ILPs) are available, after consultation with the advising faculty, allowing students to explore areas of particular interest to them.
Performance opportunities involve county and area all-state festivals, concerts, and performances in small groups at a variety of venues and in conjunction with service projects. All of CCA’s music classes are firmly rooted in a Christian perspective that seeks to explore the magnificent features present in music and turn the knowledge gained to the glory of God.
