The BISON Scholarship Fund is a privately funded tuition assistance program designed to help low-income children living in the eight counties of Western New York: Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Wyoming, and Orleans.
Through this program, families who are awarded a BISON scholarship can send their child to a private school of their choice.

Equalizing Educational Opportunities

BISON’s goal is to provide low-income families with the opportunity to choose a private education for their children—an opportunity that might otherwise be out of reach due to financial constraints. The program aims to equalize educational opportunities for elementary students and make it possible for every child to succeed.

Minimum Commitment: BISON commits to supporting each student for a minimum of four years, with the goal of providing scholarships for students throughout their grammar school years.

Growth and Impact

Thanks to the generosity of the Western New York community and matching grants from the Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF), the BISON Scholarship Fund has expanded significantly.

In its first year, BISON helped 200 children.

Today, it supports over 1,800 children who attend more than 77 different private or Catholic schools in the greater Buffalo area.
